Bohemian FC fans were left delighted and slightly bemused by an unusual sight at Dalymount Park on Saturday as a miniature Dublin Bus carried the ball onto the field.
The unique 'Mini Dublin Bus' is now the official ball carrier for the season, and it will bring the football out to the centre circle before each game at Dalymount. On Saturday, the pint-sized bus made its first official appearance at Dalymount Park as Bohemians women's team played Shelbourne.
Fans were delighted to see the surprisingly fast little bus whizzing up and down the pitch, with real bus driver Zoe Bailey at the controls. It's the latest joint campaign between Dublin Bus and Bohemians. Last summer they created a special 'jersey with a twist', printed all over with the iconic multi-coloured pattern of the Dublin Bus seats

Meanwhile, the benches at Dalymount also now resemble a cut-open 46a bus, which is a nice touch as the cross-city bus route passes by the stadium. Speaking about the newly unveiled 'Mini Dublin Bus' official ball carrier, Dublin Bus's PR executive Harry McCann wrote on Twitter on Friday: "I am very excited to share a special creation we have been working hard to bring to life over the last few months. Meet Mini Dublin Bus, the official match ball carrier for @bfcdublin at Dalymount Park this season."
Last week, the Mini Dublin Bus was also tested out in the snow and it passed with flying colours, and at the weekend it was an excellent new tool to deliver the ball onto the field.
Bohemians fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at the team's new 'ball carrier.'
One person commented: "That is bloody amazing!" A second added: "Stop omg that is so cute!"
A third person added: "Get this on the shelves right now. This is seriously cool, well done all." A fourth person quipped: "Drive this bus for 800c a week."
