Bohemians have signed Ireland under-21 striker Ryan Cassidy on loan from Watford ahead of the 2022 season.
Dubliner Cassidy, who came through the ranks with Bohs’ partner club St Kevin’s Boys, will spend at least the first half of the season at Dalymount Park.
The 20-year-old is out of contract at Vicarage Road in the summer and will look to gain further experience in senior football at his hometown club.
He’s the second arrival at Bohs from the Hornets in as many days following the loan signing of Northern Ireland under-21 defender JJ Kiernan on Saturday.
Cassidy spent the first half of the 2020/21 season on loan at Accrington Stanley but has struggled with injury since and made his comeback at under-23 level in September.
He has played underage football for Ireland up to under-19 level and was called up the under-21 squad in November 2020 for the games with Iceland and Luxembourg.
“Watford Under-23 striker Ryan Cassidy has joined Irish Premier Division side Bohemian FC on loan,” read a statement from the Hornets.
“The Republic of Ireland youth international joins up with Watford teammate JJ McKiernan at the League of Ireland outfit, subject to international clearance.
“Cassidy, 21, signed for the Hornets from St Kevins Boys in July 2017, and spent last season on loan at Accrington Stanley.”
