Gardai have launched an investigation after a person’s body was pulled from water in Wicklow town.
Emergency services were called to the scene at the River Vartry in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
It’s understood the person was inside a vehicle that had entered the water. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror that an investigation is underway into “all the circumstances” surrounding the death.
They said that the results of a post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation.
“Gardai are investigating all the circumstances following the discovery of a body in the water in Wicklow Town this morning, Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
“The body was removed to Loughlinstown mortuary where a post-mortem will take place at a later date, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation,” they said.
