A body pulled from a river in Renfrewshire is thought to be that of missing man Barry McCullagh – who disappeared more than five months ago.
A large emergency services presence had been camped out on Glen Gardens, just off Main Road, Elderslie, since yesterday evening.
Water rescue teams from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service had been searching in the water.
And it has now been confirmed that the body of a man was pulled from the river after a member of the public raised the alarm.
Police say the family of 41-year-old Barry McCullagh, from Castlemilk, Glasgow, have been informed.
The father-of-two was last seen on CCTV walking along Lounsdale Road outside the Lord Lounsdale pub in Paisley around 5.33pm after disappearing from the Royal Alexandra Hospital on Wednesday, October 5, days after he suffered a seizure.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6.15 pm on Sunday, March 26, police were called to a report of a body of a man in Old Patrick Water, Elderslie, Johnstone.
“Officers and emergency services are at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
“Although formal identification has yet to take place, the family of Barry McCullagh, who has been missing from the Paisley area since Wednesday, October 5, have been informed."
