Police have launched a probe after a woman was found dead at a flat in Ayr.
Officers raced to the property on Nursery Hall in the South Ayrshire town after the alarm was raised at around 10.15am on Monday. A 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post mortem examination is yet to take place, however cops are currently treating the death as "unexplained". Pictures taken from the scene this afternoon showed a large area of the street cordoned off by officers.
Uniformed cops could be seen standing guard as a probe into the incident was launched. Officers say their enquiries are currently ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.15am on Monday, March 27, police were called to a flat in Nursery Hall, Ayr. A 41-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, however in the meantime the death is being treated as unexplained.
“Police enquiries are continuing.”
