Body of teenager suspected of falling overboard at Lake Mulwala found in NSW, police say

The body of a 16-year-old boy believed to have fallen from a boat on Lake Mulwala in Victoria has been recovered in NSW.

The teenager went overboard with another 16-year-old after their tinny was hit bu a wave and capsized at Silverwoods Boulevard, Yarrawonga about 9am on December 11, according to police.

The two friends were believed to be fishing at the time.

Two men who saw them struggling managed to pull one of the teenagers to safety, but when they returned they could not find the missing boy.

Emergency services, including search and rescue officers, airwing, SES and police divers have been searching the lake since Sunday.

The body was located on Thursday about 6:30pm just across the border in Kyffins Bay.

"While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the 16-year-old boy," NSW Police said in a statement.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
