A man's body has been found in the Ross River in Townsville a day after he apparently entered it after fleeing from police.
He was one of two believed to have entered the river after fleeing two stolen vehicles involved in a police pursuit on Thursday morning.
The vehicles were hit with tyre deflation devices at Riverway Dr in the Townsville suburb of Condon, police said.
They allege two men entered the river, with a 22-year-old man telling family on Thursday of the incident, before notifying police of an 18-year-old's disappearance around 6pm on Thursday.
A search of the river bank and the local area began on Thursday night and police divers found the teenager's body around 11.50am on Friday near to where their search began at Riverway Lagoon, Thuringowa.
An investigation into the stolen vehicles continues.
