The body of a man who went into a lake on Saturday night, sparking a frantic search, has been recovered.
The 46-year-old man was seen going into Cardiff’s Roath Park Lake but the alarm was raised when he didn’t return, Wales Online reports.
Emergency services were called to the scene and South Wales Police confirmed on Sunday morning that a body has been recovered from the water.
The park was closed off as emergency services dealt with the incident. South Wales Police, the fire service and ambulances were in attendance. Roads in the surrounding area were also cordoned off.
In a statement, a police spokesperson said: “South Wales Police has recovered a body from Roath Lake in Cardiff.
“Officers were called to the area shortly after 8.30pm on Saturday June 17 following concerns for the welfare of a 46-year-old man who had not returned after entering in the water.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a file is being prepared for HM Coroner.”
