Body of man pulled from water at dock after major 16-hour search operation

A man's body has tragically been found at a Merseyside dock following a major search and rescue operation spanning 16 hours.

Merseyside Police were seen combing the area at Wirral dock on Monday night after they received reports of a concern for safety in the area.

Now a man's body has been found in the dock a day later.

Police said they were called at 10.15pm on April 11 and there were "at least a dozen" emergency service vehicles at the scene behind the Hythe building, near Wirral Met College's Wirral Waters campus.

And in an update they stated that the body of a man was found in the water at 2.15pm on Tuesday, with paramedics at the scene pronouncing him dead.

Police have said a post-mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of death.

A police spokesman told The Mirror: "At this time the death is being treated as unexplained and the man's next of kin has been informed.

"We have no more information to give at the moment."
