Body of man pulled from river in Scots town as police launch sudden death probe

A man’s body has been pulled from the River Leven in Fife by police and fire crews.

The grim discovery was made in the waterway in Leslie, on the outskirts of Glenrothes, at around 5.30am on Tuesday, March 7.

The man’s age has not yet been disclosed by Police Scotland, however his next of kin have been informed of the tragedy after emergency services were called to the scene.

Enquiries in the circumstances surrounding his death remain ongoing, the force has confirmed.

A spokesperson said: “Around 5.20am on Tuesday, 7 March, 2023 the body of a man was discovered in the River Leven, Leslie.

“Next of kin have been informed and enquiries are ongoing.”
