Body of man found in Grand Canal identified as missing Dubliner Anthony Kennedy

The body of a man found in the Grand Canal has been identified as missing Dubliner Anthony Kennedy.

The 69-year-old's body was discovered in the Portobello area of the Grand Canal on Thursday afternoon - ten days after he went missing.

Mr Kennedy was last seen at his home in Whitefriar Street, Dublin 8 on Monday, February 21.

He was described as being 5’ 8” in height with a slim build. He has black/grey hair and blue eyes.

A spokesman for the gardai said: "Following the recovery of a body at Portobello Harbour, Dublin 2, on Thursday, 3rd March 2022, the missing person appeal in respect of Anthony Kennedy, 59 years, has been stood down."
