Body found on street in Wanniassa in Canberra's south, police investigation underway

A man's body was found on a footpath in Canberra's south on Friday afternoon, with his cause of death currently unknown.

The man was found by passers-by near homes on Bussau Close in Wanniassa about 1pm.

About half a dozen police officers were still at the scene late on Friday afternoon and had cordoned off the area.

They were also searching nearby underpasses and grassland.

The man has not yet been identified and his cause of death is unknown.

Police investigations are continuing.
