Police have found a body in the search for a man who vanished from a Scots hospital last week.
The family of Stephen McFarlane, 32, who went missing from a Greenock hospital one week ago, have been informed. Officers say the body was found off Inverkip Road in the town at around 5:45pm on Wednesday.
Stephen was last seen on CCTV at the Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock at 2am on July 7. Since then, officers had been carrying out extensive inquiries, including checking CCTV and questioning local taxi and transport companies.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a man has been found off Inverkip Road in Greenock.
"The body was found around 5.45pm on Thursday, 14 July.
"He is still to be formally identified but the family of Stephen McFarlane, 32, from Greenock, who had been reported missing on Monday, 11 July, has been informed.
"The death is currently being treated as unexplained and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
