A BODY has been found in the search for an American tourist who went missing while hiking in Glencoe.

Timothy Rosser was reported missing six days ago after he failed to check into his pre-booked hotels while hiking in the Glencoe area.

The 60-year-old was last seen leaving his hotel in Edinburgh in his black MG hire car, which was later spotted in Glencoe on Tuesday.

Police have confirmed that at around 6.50pm on Sunday, they recovered the body of a man in the area where Rosser had gone missing.

Detectives added that formal identification has yet to take place, but Rosser’s family has been informed of the discovery.

Officers said the death is not believed to be suspicious and that a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.50pm, on Sunday, 24 May, 2026, the body of a man was recovered in the Glencoe area.

“Formal identification has yet to take place however, the family of Timothy Rosser, 60, who had been reported missing from the area, has been informed.

“The death is not believed to be suspicious, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
