A body has tragically been found during a police search for missing Kilsyth man Alexander McMillan, who vanished over a month ago.
The 46-year-old was formally reported missing after failing to make contact with worried loved ones since the end of April.
He was last spotted on CCTV at midnight on Tuesday, April 26, on Manse Road, near Howe Road, in the North Lanarkshire town.
Regular searches for Alexander were carried out by the local community while officers stopped passing motorists at pedestrians at the site where he was last seen.
His family were described as being “extremely worried” about him due to this “very out of character” disappearance.
Police Scotland have confirmed the grim discovery was made in Barrhill Forest, Kilsyth, on Wednesday June 1.
And while formal identification of the body has yet to take place, Alexander’s next of kin have been informed.
A force spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the body of a man was found on Wed 1 June, in Barrhill Forest, Kilsyth.
“Formal ID has yet to take place but the family of Alexander McMillan, 46, reported missing from the area in April, has been made aware.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
