Police searching for a missing Lanarkshire man have found a body.
Officers can confirm that the body of a man was found in Barrhill Forest, Kilsyth at around 5.10pm on Wednesday, June 1.
Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of 46-year-old Alexander McMillan, who has been missing since Monday, April 25 has been made aware.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
Alexander was formally reported missing after failing to make contact with worried loved ones since the end of April.
He was last spotted on CCTV at midnight on Tuesday, April 26, on Manse Road, near Howe Road, in the North Lanarkshire town.
Regular searches for Alexander were carried out by the local community while officers stopped passing motorists at pedestrians at the site where he was last seen.
His family were described as being “extremely worried” about him due to this “very out of character” disappearance.
A police spokesperson said: “We can confirm that the body of a man was found on Wed 1 June, in Barrhill Forest, Kilsyth.
“Formal ID has yet to take place but the family of Alexander McMillan, 46, reported missing from the area in April, has been made aware.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
