The search for a young woman missing from Donegal has been stood down following the discovery of a body this morning.
Daena Tighe, 21, was reported missing from Buncrana last week. She was last seen around midday on Friday, January 6 on the Cockhill Road.
Gardai issued two missing persons appeals for the woman, stating that her family were “concerned for her welfare” and had asked for assistance finding her.

Landowners in the Buncrana area were asked to check any sheds, outhouses or other remote buildings on their lands.
In the appeals, gardai described Daena as being 5’ 6” in height, with long, straight brown hair, and brown eyes. She was wearing black jeans and a khaki jacket with fur hood when last seen, with her hair tied up in a ponytail.
This afternoon, it was confirmed that the missing persons appeal for Daena had been stood down following the discovery of a body earlier in the day.
A Garda spokesperson thanked the public for their help.
In a statement, they said: “Following the discovery of a woman's body earlier today Tuesday 10th January, 2023 the missing person appeal in respect of 21 year-old Daena Tighe, has been stood down.
“We would like to thank the public and media for their assistance in this matter.”
