Body camera footage captured during the aftermath of the attempted assassination of former President Trump has revealed a crucial moment where law enforcement discussed the sniper losing sight of gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks. The incident took place in Butler, Pennsylvania, where Crooks was ultimately shot dead by snipers.
In the three-minute video shared on social media by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, authorities can be seen on the roof of a building, with one officer pointing out the location of the sniper who initially spotted Crooks. The officer indicated the rifle's position and mentioned that the sniper had lost sight of the gunman after observing him coming from a bike and setting a bag down.
The footage also captured a conversation between the law enforcement officer and a man who appeared to be a Secret Service agent. The officer highlighted that the sniper who sent the initial pictures of Crooks was still nearby and had lost sight of him. The Secret Service agent confirmed receiving the same pictures and noted the sniper's distinctive feature of wearing glasses.
The video was obtained from the Beaver County Emergency Services Unit and was shared by Grassley on X platform. To protect the identity of the individuals involved, a source has blurred the image of the body in the footage.
