Coming into the season we predicted that the Seahawks would go 11-6 and upset their way to the NFC Championship. Through five games that looks like a very reasonable goal, as Seattle has managed to beat the team that’s currently the best in the NFL and had a couple of chances in the red zone to upset the Bengals, another serious Super Bowl contender.
One guy who would know a contender from a pretender is legendary linebacker Bobby Wagner. Here’s what he had to say about this team as it stands going into Week 7, per Gregg Bell at the Tacoma News Tribune:
“I think that’s probably the vibe. The vibe of just being frustrated and upset that you let a game that you probably should’ve won slip away, but having the positives that we kind of beat ourselves — and if we put this together, we can be really good team…”
A lot goes into putting it together, but at the top of the list the Seahawks could use some better luck when it comes to offensive line injuries. No team has suffered more of them this season. While Stone Forsythe, Jake Curhan and the other backups have managed to keep the wheels from coming off, the unit’s performance has suffered due to so many minor cuts.
While left tackle Charles Cross has returned to the field after missing a month with turf toe, right tackle Abe Lucas remains on injured reserve with his knee issue and Pete Carroll says he won’t be back this week.
