Bob Ryan on whether Jaylen Brown deserves a supermax extension from the Boston Celtics

For much of the latter half of last season, fans of the Boston Celtics clamored for star forward Jaylen Brown to get the nod for an All-NBA team, so the Georgia native would be eligible for a supermax extension.

Now that he is on the cusp of signing it, there is much debate on whether Brown’s play justifies receiving a supermax deal.

Count among those voices Boston sports journalism royalty Bob Ryan, who recently explained why he is down on the prospect on an episode of his eponymous CLNS Media “Bob Ryan, Jeff Goodman, and Gary Tanguay” podcast.

Ultimately, the decision about Brown’s contract will require careful consideration by the Celtics’ front office, which may be at least part of the hold-up with it.
