Bob Mortimer admits he's 'not very well' following recent hospital visit

Bob Mortimer has said that he is currently ‘not very well’ as he opened up about his health issues at an event earlier this week.

The comedian admitted that he is ‘not very healthy’ as he made an appearance at a London theatre on Monday. Speaking on Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast, the 63-year-old revealed that he had been in hospital over the weekend.

Bob explained: “I am not very well. I am not very healthy at the moment.” The star, famous for being one half of an iconic duo with Vic Reeves, told the theatre audience that he had been recently taking part in filming for a fishing show, The Mirror reports .

Bob is said to have told the audience: “I did it Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday and I was in hospital on the Saturday. I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that should I? It's a real downer.”

The comedian stars alongside Paul Whitehouse in the BBC series Gone Fishing, which recently returned for its fifth series. Bob has spoken about his health troubles in the past, having undergone triple heart bypass surgery in 2015 after being told he had coronary heart disease.

Bob said a few years ago of the experience: “It changes how you feel about things and you become a lot more aware of your health. It gives you a kick up the backside and gets things in perspective.”

During his appearance with Richard Herring, the comedian said of his health: “I think because I was a smoker and an incredibly fast runner and a very dramatic dancer and I put that all in my younger years. I think I am about 10 years ahead of myself with my body ageing.”

He also discussed having rheumatoid arthritis at Monday’s theatre event, according to The Sun . Bob said that he had been diagnosed with the painful condition decades ago, but that it had only just recently returned after being free of symptoms since he was in his thirties.
