Onlookers were left "shocked" after a boat crashed into Gateshead's Millennium Bridge over the weekend.
The boat veered towards Gateshead Millennium Bridge on Saturday before making contact with it. The top of the boat scraped underneath the bridge causing a significant bit of damage to the vessel.
Gateshead Council has since confirmed that the boat had lost power and control and drifted under the north side of the bridge. While the top of the boat scraped underneath the bridge, the bridge itself was not damaged.
