A boat has capsized after a crash on the River Mersey.
Emergency services, including Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service, were called to reports of the incident at 12.36am on Wednesday, May 18. Two fire engines and the Search and Rescue Team attended and found a tugboat had crashed into the Mersey Ferries landing stage at Georges Parade.
The boat, which remains in the River Mersey this morning, is visibly damaged and turned over with holes in the bottom. It is not yet clear what caused the crash but a join investigation is taking place to establish how it happened.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue service has confirmed that no injuries were reported and all people involved in the crash were accounted for. The Mersey Ferrie s service will remain suspended until the damage can be fully assessed.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue service said: "Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended an incident in the early hours of Wednesday 18th May at Georges Parade, Canada Boulevard, Liverpool City Centre. Crews were alerted at 12.36am and on scene at 12.44am. Two fire engines and the Search and Rescue Team attended.
"An incident has occurred whereby a tugboat has collided with the Mersey Ferries landing stage in Liverpool, as well as our MFRS Marine Fire 1 Rescue boat at our River Mersey Community Fire and Rescue Station. No casualties have been reported and all persons have been accounted for.
"Multi-agency meetings involving ourselves, Mersey Ferries, MCA and local authorities have been set up, taking place throughout the night. An investigation into the cause of this incident is underway.
"The Mersey Ferries service remains suspended until the extent of the damage is fully assessed. For updates on ferry services, please check Mersey Ferries website for details."
