Bo Nix Made Oregon History and Solidified His Spot As the Heisman Favorite

Bo Nix and No. 6 Oregon got off to a hot start in the desert on Saturday, demolishing Arizona State on the road.

For Nix, the performance was one good enough to put one hand on the Heisman Trophy. Heading into the day, Nix was already the favorite to win the award, but with six touchdown passes in the first half alone against the Sun Devils, he put an exclamation point on his player résumé.

Nix completed 24 of his 29 passes on the day, throwing for 404 yards and six touchdowns. The six passing touchdowns tied an Oregon all-time record and was a career high for Nix.

Nix would get one chance to break the all-time Ducks record, leading Oregon's offense back out onto the field for their first drive of the second half. He completed a pass into the end zone, but the score was called back due to offensive pass interference, and the drive stalled out.

By the next drive, Nix had been subbed out in favor of backup Ty Thompson.

Despite falling short of claiming solo record, Nix still wrote his name into the history books. Fans excitedly celebrated his performance on social media.

With the Sun Devils in the rearview mirror, the Ducks can look ahead to next week's matchup against No. 11 Oregon State in the rivalry game known as Civil War.
