Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix was frequently compared to Drew Brees leading up to the 2024 NFL draft this spring.
Nix boasted a high completion percentage, a quick release and accurate passes in college, much like Brees did in the NFL. (Nix, by the way, has been flattered by the comparisons.)
During the team’s 26-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Nix had another play that brought back memories of Brees.
“Nix with the shoulder roll deep — right to the checkdown for room to run,” Ben Fennell of CBS Sports and NFL on Prime tweeted about the play on Monday. Fennell called it “The Drew Brees Special.”
Fennell wasn’t alone in his assessment.
“Could be a stunt double for Brees,” @TayyibAbu1 wrote on Twitter/X. “Looks so similar there.”

Earlier this month, Brees said he has been “really impressed” with Nix, and he said the QB landed in a good scheme with coach Sean Payton.
Nix has a long way to go before having his career compared to that of Brees, but he continues to display encouraging traits in Payton’s offense.
