BMW never shies away from creating limited editions to celebrate racing history, whether it's celebrating 115 runs of the IOM TT or the manufacturer winning its first WorldSBK riders' championship. But the Bavarian manufacturer is celebrating something infinitely closer to home—the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Nürburgring—and has appropriately upped its limited-edition game.
The Nürburgring officially opened on June 18th, 1927. To mark the 100th anniversary of the Nürburgring in 2027, BMW M and BMW Motorrad are presenting the joint anniversary edition “100 Jahre Nürburgring.” It comprises six BMW M automobiles and three BMW Motorrad M models.
Frank van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH, said, “The Nürburgring is much more than just a racetrack for us – it is a second home for BMW M. All our production vehicles are put through their paces on the Nordschleife. With the Edition 100 Jahre Nürburgring, we celebrate our long-standing and successful relationship with the Nürburgring.”
Of course, we're most interested in the latter half of the limited-edition equation. The limited-edition two-wheeled models are based on the BMW M 1000 RR, M 1000 R, and M 1000 XR. Each limited-edition model is limited to a 100-unit production run.
The standard edition equipment shared across all three models includes the M Track Package, the historical Nürburgring Green paint, anniversary decals, carbon wheels, black rear swingarm and subframe, and a seat in Alcantara look with “100” embroidery. Each model will also feature a painted fuel tank with Nordschleife-inspired details, an airbox cover with an anniversary design, and a “one of 100” decal on the gas tank. An M Cover Kit is included with the sale of the BMW M 1000 RR and BMW M 1000 R, along with an exclusive M motorcycle mat and a paddock stand.
I haven't been able to find the expected MSRP in the US, but in the UK the M 1000 R costs £28,700 ($38,748), while the M 1000 XR will go for £31,200 ($42,124), and the M 1000 RR will set you back £43,000 ($58,055).
