THANE: The additional water supply from Mumbai to the city may end up draining the taxpayers money as the Thane corporation may have to spend a fortune on constructing a new filtration plant in the city or lay a new network to and from its existing plant at Temghar, officials said.
A senior Thane civic official said the BMC recently accepted their request for additional water supply and agreed to send 10 MLD untreated water which will be distributed to the Wagle estate area that presently faces acute water shortage, following intervention of guardian minister Eknath Shinde.
