Blur frontman Damon Albarn spotted in Dublin city venue after Malahide Castle show

Damon Albarn, frontman for Britpop foursome Blur, made a visit to a well-loved Dublin venue after his Malahide Castle show on Saturday night.

The sold-out show in the iconic outdoor venue, which saw thousands of revellers attend Depeche Mode just one week prior, was a delight for fans as the group returned 10 years after their last Dublin performance.

Albarn and fellow band members Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree busted out the hits in a setlist that any devoted follower would have loved - opening their encore with Girls and Boys to mark Pride month, alongside Alex in a mini skirt.

After the Parklife hitmakers finished their show it wasn’t time for the party to stop, with Damon, who is also known for his work as the leading member of the virtual band Gorillaz, stopping in for a visit to a beloved bar that many celebrities have frequented.

The frontman popped in for a visit at the popular Fade Street Social restaurant and bar, with manager Joseph McColgan sending Dublin Live a pic of the musician posing with beaming staff. McColgan added: "In Fade last night."

Fade Street Social is no stranger to celebrity customers. Hollywood star Will Ferrell was also previously spotted there, as well as comedian Seth Meyers and Dublin actor Colm Meaney.

Next up for the Malahide Castle series are Florence and the Machine, who play Tuesday with support from CMAT and Nell Mescal. This is followed by Sting on Wednesday, with support from Blondie. Lastly, finishing out the series is Hozier on Friday with the Teskey Brothers on support duties.

After Blur's hugely successful gig this weekend, the Girls and Boys hitmakers are set to have busy summer, the group are off on a tour that will bring them around Europe.
