Blue ribbons have been placed along a road in Ely in tribute of the two teenage boys who lost theirs lives in May this year. Grand Avenue is a street that runs through the middle of Ely and as of Saturday, July 1, ribbons could be seen tied to lampposts, trees and railings along the road.
Best friends Kyrees Sullivan and Harvey Evans sadly lost their lives on May 22 after a fatal road traffic collision in Ely. Following their deaths, eruption was caused amongst the community in Ely, where riots took place.
Friends and families of the two boys have paid tributes in many ways since their deaths, including a balloon release and a memorial bike ride, ahead of their funerals. The details of the joint funeral service of the two friends were confirmed to be held at 1pm on Thursday, July 6. The service will be held at the Church of the Resurrection on Grand Avenue followed by a burial in Western Cemetery and a wake at the Vale Sports Arena.
Blue ribbons were placed along the stretch of road where the funeral will be held by friends and family of the two young boys. Those attending the funeral have also been guided to wear blue clothing.
