Blue Light Card announces Australia expansion plans

The team behind a discount card for members of the emergency services has announced plans to launch it on the other side of the world.

The Blue Light Card, which is available to the emergency services, NHS, social care sector and armed forces, will go live in Australia in October.

The Leicestershire-based company has more than 2 million UK cardholders who get savings across retail, travel, technology and other areas – and will be available to Australia's blue light community, at both a national and local level. Eligible individuals will include workers within Australia's healthcare, law enforcement and defence forces, as well as the fire, emergency and coastal services.

The Australian arm of Blue Light Card will be headquartered in Sydney’s Central Business District, led by general manager Tracey Duff, marketing and member services lead Emily Geier, senior partnership acquisition manager Sandy Bassal and people advisor Prerna Gupta.

Supporting the team will be graphic designer Mauricio Rivas, and existing Blue Light Card UK employees Megan Barston and Alyesha Bamra, who will be joining the member services and partnerships teams on a six month secondment.

Blue Light Card co-founder and chief technical officer Steve Denny – who is also a former police officer – said: “When we first founded Blue Light Card in 2008, my business partner Tom Dalby and I could never have imagined just how far the company would go.

“We are thrilled that we have been able to celebrate and reward the work of over two million NHS staff, emergency service providers, social care workers and service people through our exclusive partnerships and benefits.

“Like the UK, Australia has an incredibly hard working Blue Light community, individuals who make sacrifices every day to keep the Australian public safe and healthy.

“With all the support we’ve received from both our partners and our wonderful members over nearly 15 years, we’re incredibly excited to be setting out on this new venture in Australia.

“With their impressive combined experience, superb local knowledge and unwavering enthusiasm for the Blue Light Card community and mission, we’re confident that Tracey, Emily, Sandy and Prerna will lead the Australian team to great success.

“Together, we cannot wait to start spreading our message of appreciation across the globe, and offering a small token of gratitude to those who give so much for us.”
