A blooming great day - despite some changeable weather - raised well over £2000 for three charities.
Braehead House in Thorntonhall near East Kilbride is owned by Karin and Walter Hecht and they threw open their garden, with hundreds turning up to see the fruits of their labour.
Their open day was part of the Scotland’s Gardens scheme, with a selection of gardens across the country being opened to raise much-needed funds for a variety of charities.
On top of designated charities – including Maggie’s and horticulture charity Perennial – participants can nominate one and Walter and Karin decided on Macmillan Cancer Support.
The original part of Braehead House was built in 1775 with the main Georgian part completed in 1830.
Walter and Karin have spent 40 years developing the garden and were delighted to let others enjoy the beautiful flora and fauna while raising cash for good causes.
Walter told Lanarkshire Live: "After an apprehensive start to the day reading relentless bad weather forecasts, the situation slowly improved helped by the arrival of three gazebos and a real improvement in the weather that overall generated good humour among the very supportive 150 to 200 guests who arrived.
"It turned out to be a great event in a woodland garden of a type that looked good even in the mixed weather.
"Well over £2000 was raised helped by a plant sale and sale of wonderful cakes and scones all prepared by enthusiastic volunteers.
"We were told that it was one of the most successful open gardens so it all turned out for the best somehow.
"A lot of hard work was put in to the garden before it, a lot of hard toil, but it was worth it. Although we did need a good rest after it!"
