It's Mother's Day this weekend and the supermarkets have come up trumps if you want to treat your mum on a budget.
With delivered flowers often carrying a hefty price tag, deliver them yourself and save yourself a sizeable chunk of cash - and see your mum at the same time. With many household budgets under strain this year, it makes sense to shop around for the best deal, and your careful spending should get your mum's tick of approval too.
With bunches of daffodils - and what's nicer at this time of the year? - on offer for as little as £1, you really don't have to spend a lot to treat your mum. But if you live too far away to pop in with your bunch, we have a couple of ideas for distant mums too.

Kicking off with the simplest and cheapest deal, Asda, Sainsbury's and Tesco are all advertising their daffodils at the usual price of £1. Aldi and Lidl are charging 99p more for their so-called pocket money bouquets, with Beautiful Blooms at Aldi and pink Posy at Lidl coming in at £1.99 each.
For around the £4 mark, you get a bit more choice, with Sainsbury's Mixed Spray Carnations in pretty pinks at £4 and Aldi's Best Mum and Lidl's Wonderful Mum bouquets competing at £3.99. Also in this price range is a bunch of daffodils at Co-Op, who are charging £4 for their big bunch of daffs, if you want something a bit more showy than the standard £1 bunch on offer at other stores.
If you can spare a fiver, your choice - and bouquet - gets bigger. Asda's Isabella and Wonderful Mum (available from March 25), Sainsbury's Rainbow Tulips, Morrisons Thanks Mum bouquet and Alstroemeria bouquet come in at £5, while Lidl's Elegance (from March 24) undercuts the competition by 1p at £4.99.
If you want to push out the boat, Tesco has it's Unicorn bouquet at £10, Aldi has Pretty Pink (from March 24) at £9.99 and Morrisons is offering its Number One Mum pink bouquet at £10, and save a couple of quid by plumping for a Mother's Day Classic for £8 at Co-Op.
For those who live too far away from their mum or can't get to a supermarket, the best deals for delivered flowers look to come from Marks and Spencer and Waitrose this year.
It's daffodils all the way at M&S, who are offering as whopping 100 stems for £20 delivered on any day you want, including Sunday. The flowers can be ordered right up until Saturday, March 26.
Waitrose's best value deal is a bunch of multi-coloured British Tulips for £20 delivered, again order by Saturday for delivery on Sunday. There are many deals for Mother's Day flowers online, but beware of catches and special offers to lure you in to a monthly subscription of flowers, such as Bloom and Wild or Freddie's Flowers.
If you would like to treat your mum to a regular delivery of flowers, companies such as these are ideal, but make sure you know what you are signing up for - a one-off £10 voucher is not much of a saving if you end up paying £25 every month until you realise what's going on!
Another catch is delivery costs, with flower delivery companies advertising bunches from as little at £10 or £15 but it's only when you get to checkout you realise that delivery is not included and can cost up to £7.
