Blocking grades for Patriots OT Isaiah Wynn are astoundingly bad

In a year when New England Patriots offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn should be outperforming his contract, he’s underperforming badly and leaving little doubt that he’ll be in a different uniform at some point.

Whether that’s before the trade deadline or in the offseason remains to be seen.

Wynn, who is playing in a contract year, had another ugly showing in the Patriots’ 38-15 win over the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Things got so bad that he was even benched at one point for veteran Marcus Cannon.

Pro Football Focus released the passing and run-blocking grades from the game, via NESN’s Dakota Randall, and Wynn’s numbers were astoundingly bad. They were the worst in both categories on the entire team.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Patriots slowly start moving away from Wynn. Cannon wasn’t perfect by any stretch, but he was clearly the better player when in the lineup for New England.

There’s also the matter of tackle Yodny Cajuste being on injured reserve. The Patriots don’t have a lot of reliable depth at the position to just outright dump Wynn right now. They also aren’t likely to fetch anywhere close to their investment of a first-round draft pick in the former University of Georgia standout.

The Patriots might be forcibly hitched to the Wynn wagon for at least a little while longer.
