Bleecker Street, the American film distribution company, has acquired the U.S. rights to the sci-fi thriller film Slingshot. Directed by Mikael Håfström, the movie features an impressive cast including Casey Affleck, Laurence Fishburne, and Emily Beecham. Slingshot is set to be released theatrically nationwide by Bleecker Street in 2024.
The film revolves around an astronaut grappling with his sanity while embarking on a high-stakes mission to Saturn's moon, Titan. As the mission faces potential fatal complications, the astronaut must struggle to maintain his grip on reality. Slingshot also stars Tomer Capone and David Morrissey, adding to the film's ensemble cast.
The screenplay for Slingshot was written by R. Scott Adams and Nathan Parker, the latter known for his work on the critically acclaimed film Moon. Astral Pictures produced the movie in collaboration with Bluestone Entertainment, Széchenyi Funds Ltd., and Filmsquad.
In addition to Slingshot, Bleecker Street is involved in another exciting project set to begin production later this month in Hungary. Nuremberg, a film helmed by writer-director James Vanderbilt and starring Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, and Michael Shannon, is being backed by Bluestone Entertainment, Hungarian investor Széchenyi Funds Ltd., and Filmsquad.
The production of Slingshot took place at Korda Studios and various locations in and around Budapest, Hungary. The film's producer credits are shared by Richard Saperstein, Istvan Major, and Beau Turpin, while the executive producers include Ivett Havasi, Shara Kay, Michael Hollingsworth, Tom Nohstadt, Ron Cundy, Nikolett Barabás, Jonathan Krauss, Brooklyn Weaver, and Joanna Plafsky.
Bleecker Street secured the distribution rights for Slingshot through negotiations conducted by Kent Sanderson and Avy Eschenasy on behalf of the company. The filmmakers were represented by WME Independent, who also handle the international rights to the film.
Apart from Slingshot, Bleecker Street has two other highly anticipated films making their debut at prestigious film festivals. Treasure, directed by Julia von Heinz and starring Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry, will have its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival. Sasquatch Sunset, directed by David and Nathan Zellner and featuring Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg, is also set to screen at the Berlinale after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.
As anticipation builds for the release of Slingshot and the other films associated with Bleecker Street, audiences can look forward to compelling storytelling, exceptional performances, and immersive cinematic experiences. With their commitment to quality films, Bleecker Street continues to cultivate a diverse and captivating lineup of movies for audiences to enjoy.
