Bleary-eyed Brits react to time change - at least my car clock is correct now

The clocks have gone forward so you're probably feeling a bit out of time at the moment. You may also be seeking some reassurance that your smartphone has made the change or if a technological glitch is going to put you out of kilter today.

The days of manually changing clocks has largely disappeared, apart from many ovens, cars and battery-operated wall clocks. So, many people want a second opinion that it is now an hour later than our bodies are telling us.

And as people wake-up this Sunday - Mother's Day of course - people have been quick to share their views on British Summer Time on twitter. NIght-shift workers have expressed delight that the clocks jumped from 12.59am straight to 2am but some are missing that extra hour of shut eye.

Kat spoke for many when she wrote: "At least my car clock is correct now." Steve Davies agreed: "Can’t beat that feeling knowing the clock in the car is gonna tell the right time for 6 months again."

Will Lott wrote in the early hours: "I’m currently working the night shift and the clocks just went from 0100 to 0200!! Woo hoo!!" Mike O'B added: "As a night shift worker, I'd like to share this once per year joyful aspect. In a few minutes time, my 12 hour shift will become an 11 hour shift."

Of course, we should all spare a thought for English Heritage staff. Twice a year they have to realign Stonehenge to make sure it still works. Or at least, that's what the tweet below says.....

Jocular Recalcitrant was not happy with the timing of the time change, tweeting: "NOOOOOO an hour less on Mother's Day than Father's Day?? Bleedin' typical that is."

Aileen Stewart said: #ClocksGoForward on Mother’s Day should be banned. What about the lie in?! The sacred lie in!! Do it on Saturday. Do it on Monday… not #MothersDay. How is the man gonna keep the loonies from the door for an extra hour!

Mrs S said: "The irony of Mother’s Day we have one hour less to be pampered or our children get up even earlier." Treacy Armstrong said: Since us mums lose an hour in bed on Mother’s Day, can we get it lieu & take it another day? Seems only fair to me

Henry wrote: "Can’t wait to hear everyone talk about how tired they are at work because the clocks went forward and they lost an hour of sleep."
