Bleak Leeds United 2022 calendar year stats show where Whites must improve in 2023

As 2022 comes to a close, it's fair to say many Leeds United fans will be hoping for much better form going into the new year as they try to climb up the Premier League table and avoid the relegation zone.

However, what many might not have realised is that the Whites have suffered their 'worst-performing' calendar year in the last 30 years according to Leeds history and stat guru LUFCDATA.

The stats revealed that they had the fewest wins (11) and most goals conceded per game (1.95) going back to 1992, as well as the second-lowest win percentage (28.2%) which only beat out their 2014 form which saw them win just 13 of their 50 games played (26%).

The Whites also had their second-lowest goal scored (50) and the second-highest loss percentage (51.3%) in 2022, only being beaten by their 1996 (47) and 2014 (54%) seasons respectively.

The original tweet was a list of each year since 1992 and the advent of the Premier League, and how Leeds performed in various terms across that calendar year including goals per game, win percentage and goal difference as well as the various wins/draws/losses.

The caption read: "It's been slim pickings in 2022 for Leeds fans. I've compared this calendar year with every other one going back to 1992."

Jesse Marsch and company will be hoping that the New Year's Eve draw at Newcastle United can be a springboard for a more successful 12 months in 2023.
