At the moment, the Baltimore Ravens are relying on a major amount of youth to step up at the wide receiver position during the 2022 season. After trading away their No. 1 wide receiver in Marquise Brown to the Arizona Cardinals, the team has currently opted not to bring in any sort of veteran or outside addition at the position.
There are multiple different avenues that Baltimore could take if they wanted to add more at wide receiver, including either bringing in a veteran option or even trading for a star. When listing off players who he believes should be on the trade block, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report mentioned Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf and named his best fit as the Ravens.
“The Baltimore Ravens should jump at the chance to add Metcalf if he becomes available. They lack proven talent at the receiver position—especially after dealing Marquise Brown during the draft—and Metcalf is well versed in the scramble drill after spending three seasons as a big-bodied deep threat for Wilson…Metcalf could play a similar role with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens while helping Baltimore get right back in the playoff mix.”
Metcalf would instantly add another gear to Baltimore’s already dangerous offense, and would make a dynamic trio with fellow wide receiver Rashod Bateman as well as tight end Mark Andrews. However, there are questions that come with the thought of the Ravens making a move for the star wideout, including what assets they would have to give up to acquire him as well as what kind of contract they’d be willing to pay him.
If Baltimore doesn’t make a move to bring outside help in at wide receiver either through free agency or in a trade, they will be relying on young players such as Bateman, Devin Duvernay, James Proche II and Tylan Wallace to make an impact. Each is extremely talented, and being more involved in the offense could help them shine in a big way.
