Blanchardstown fire repairs sees 13 families out of 60 unable to return home

Thirteen out of 60 families who were evacuated from a burning apartment complex in Dublin remained out of their homes last night.

Fire services were alerted to the emergency at the Falcon’s View complex near Blanchardstown Shopping Centre on Sunday afternoon. A blaze threatened to rip through several floors of the building and residents, including a heavily pregnant mum with three young children, fled in fear of their lives.

Amongst the residents who have been left temporarily homeless, one said yesterday: “We have had no word so far on how long it will take. They provided a hotel room for the last two nights at different hotels, but no long-term solution has been given yet.”

ESB Networks told Dublin Live technicians have since reconnected 47 apartments but 13 remained without power after the fire. A spokesman said: “Significant electrical works remain. We can only reconnect once the appropriate electrical work is completed.”
