Some say that everyone has a double. That seems to apply to Blake Lively, considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, as well. The artist and beauty entrepreneur found hers in Latina actress Isabela Ferrer, who plays her younger version in the new movie It Ends With Us.
It was Lively herself who cast Ferrer, a native of New York's West Village, to play the young Lily Bloom in the movie version of writer Coleen Hoover's eponymous book. The story follows the life of a young florist who becomes a woman while going through the trauma of domestic violence.
"Isabela brought a fresh and genuine energy to the role. Her portrayal of Lily's younger years is heartbreaking and inspiring," Lively said about her performance. Their relationship evolved into a sisterhood to the point that Lively herself styled Ferrer, even lending her some of her clothes and shoes (yes, they are the same size) for the press tour and premiere of the movie.
"Stepping into a character with such a meaningful impact is an honor. I loved Lily, and Isabela brought so much authenticity to her younger self. It felt like we were sharing the role, not just passing it on," Lively told People Magazine.
Isabela Ferrer, a proud Latina
Born to an Irish-Puerto Rican family, Ferrer has often expressed pride in her diverse heritage, which she believes enriches her acting abilities and connects her deeply with her Latino roots.
"Growing up in a multicultural household allowed me to see the world from multiple perspectives. It's something I cherish and bring into my work," she said in an interview. Her father, a renowned musician from Puerto Rico, and her Northern Irish mother, a celebrated painter, provided a vibrant and artistic environment that nurtured Ferrer's talents from a young age.
The 24-year-old graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama, Music, and Theater, honing her craft through various forms of performance, including devised theater and live jazz. Isabela Ferrer also studied abroad at Arthaus Berlin, further diversifying her artistic education. Before her breakout role in "It Ends With Us," Ferrer had a few notable performances, including a stint in the Paramount+ series "Evil" and the short film "Fire Burning."
First steps as a Latina in Hollywood
Ferrer, who had to leave her day job at a Brooklyn restaurant to attend a special film screening, recounted the whirlwind experience. "It was unbelievable. One moment I was prepping for a shift, and the next, I was on a plane to Dallas, welcomed by some of the most devoted fans," she shared. This dedication to her craft and her humble beginnings have endeared her to fans and colleagues.
Known for her musical talents, Ferrer often sings to express her emotions, a passion she attributes to her mother. "I sing whenever I need to release something. It's a deeply personal and freeing experience," she explained-
