Blake Lively Allegedly Trashed Justin Baldoni in Private Emails to Ben Affleck, Matt Damon

Even after It Ends With Us wrapped, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni remain in legal headlines. (Credit: Instagram/@itendswithusmovie)

The Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni saga is far from over. Last month, the 'It Ends With Us' co-stars failed to reach an agreement following their scheduled mediation, and a jury trial is now set to begin for the lawsuits they filed against each other. Ahead of that, new details have emerged regarding a smear campaign allegedly being spearheaded by both parties.

For months, Lively and her team have been accusing Baldoni of spreading lies about the actress, and Baldoni has raised the same complaints in return. New emails allegedly sent by Lively could potentially clarify who is telling the truth.

Is Blake Lively Behind the Smear Campaigns?

On X, a user uploaded a series of emails allegedly sent by Lively to Hollywood actors and close friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. In the emails, the 'Gossip Girl' star wrote about how 'terrible' Baldoni was.

In her alleged email to Affleck, Lively called Baldoni a 'chaotic clown director' and said that everyone involved in the making of 'It Ends With Us' was in a cult. She allegedly said it would have been better if she had directed the film herself, as she would not have had to contend with Baldoni's creative direction.

The email, sent in May 2024, also shows the sender asking to meet with the recipient and requesting tips on how to improve the script and direction of the film.

'Again, zero pressure. I just really want this to work after all I've put into it. This movie nearly killed me. And I think of very few people who would be as prescriptive and insightful as I know you would be,' she wrote.

Ryan Reynolds Allegedly Joins In

Another email allegedly shows Ryan Reynolds emailing Matt Damon and his wife, with Lively later joining the exchange. In her portion, she allegedly criticised Baldoni for his lack of directorial experience, accusing her co-star of having an enormous ego and believing himself to be some kind of prophet.

Lively also told Damon that she had done everything for the film, while Baldoni had little involvement behind the scenes. 'He had no idea what he had because he didn't author any of it,' she wrote.

She ended her email by telling Damon and his wife that she was expressing her frustrations openly, adding there was no pressure on either couple to spend time together, before making a light reference to the idea of them all playing pickleball.

Netizens React to Unconfirmed Emails

The emails drew a divided response online. Many social media users questioned their authenticity, pointing out that it remains unclear why Lively would have communicated via email when it would have been easier to send a private message.

The informal, candid tone struck some as inconsistent with how a public figure would typically correspond in writing. Others, however, viewed the emails as consistent with the broader picture that has emerged through court filings and public statements.

And as further evidence that the dispute between the two parties is unlikely to be resolved quietly ahead of the trial.
