Blackpool Tower bosses have responded to a visitor who said they were 'severely disappointed' with their experience and that landmark was 'nothing like they remembered'.
The tourist blasted the modernisation of the tower, saying they were 'embarrassed' to take their partner there on a recent visit, and that it 'didn't have the same feel' as it used to.
The historic attraction stands at 518 feet and has been welcoming visitors in Blackpool since 1894. Tourists flock for the stunning views from the top, as well as the opportunity to see the dancers and world-famous circus, and it is one of Blackpool's most popular destinations, reports LancsLive.

The Tower has an average TripAdvisor rating of four out of five stars, and thousands of positive reviews. One visitor wrote on the review site: "There is a lot to do here. You can go to the top of the tower and do the 4d video. There is a glass section at the top which is pretty fun to walk on. There is a dungeon at the bottom, you can visit the stunning ballroom. There is a circus which is my favourite part. Also close by Madam Tussauds and SeaLife which you can have included on the one ticket. We visited all of them with our Merlin pass."
Another added: "I've been on this back in 2017 so I thought I'd go on it again. Me and my sister really enjoyed ourselves here. We were amazed by the views from the top of the tower and it was very windy on the extreme top. Would highly recommend if you are in Blackpool or the surrounding areas."
But one visitor to the world-famous attraction said they felt 'embarrassed' to bring their partner to the tower, and felt that it had lost its magic.
The reviewer said: "So glad I have amazing childhood memories of a day at the Tower because our latest visit was nothing like I remembered and I was actually embarrassed when I took my husband to relive my memories and was severely disappointed. Sadly you now can't experience the ballroom without paying to get in, like everything else, it would be good if you could stop here for a coffee, I used to love watching the dancers.
"One ticket used to get you in Tower and you could spend all day there, Jungle Jim's, Circus, Aquarium, other wee bits, now only a 'family entertainment bar', it all looked closed down, nothing was open. Even the magic of going up to the top of the tower is gone, nothing like I remember, it's been very modernised and it just doesn't have the same feel. The magic of the circus, remembering the floor becoming a magical pool, but now it was just a murky green mess and the blue sides all green.
"The dungeons were OK, but compared to others I didn't feel I learnt much history about Blackpool so again was disappointed. Thankfully we got a substantially discount with our Blue light card as I wouldn't pay full price for what little you get. Such a shame kids will never fully experience the magic of the Tower like we did 20 years."
A spokesperson for Blackpool Tower replied to the review, thanking the guest for their opinion. They said: "Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to hear that you do not feel that what we have on offer at present lives up to previous memories and visits. We do offer a Ballroom Balcony ticket priced at £3.95 so that you can enjoy watching the dancing and have a drink without paying a full priced ticket.
"All your feedback has been dually noted as all feedback we receive is used to improve our services and our guest experience. Thank you for taking the time to give us your valued opinion."
