The Blackpool Tower Dungeon has launched its first ever limited-edition beer to mark its new terrifying show called Reaper’s Retribution. The show is on now and runs until November 6.
The ale was created in the shadow of Pendle Hill by independent brewer Moorhouse’s Brewery. Based in Burnley, the brewers collaborated with the dungeon naming it after the main character of its new Halloween show - the Grim Reaper. A 4.4% ABV blonde ale, a limited run of 100 bottles have been produced and will be given away randomly as spot prizes to 100 visitors (aged 18 and over) who see the show.
Aaron Edgar, Senior Attractions Manager at The Blackpool Tower Dungeon, said: "The Blackpool Tower Dungeon is the home of Halloween and we wanted to do something different to celebrate it and mark the launch of our new show – Reaper’s Retribution. We’re excited to launch our first and limited-edition Grim Reaper beer, a toast to the show’s terrifying lead character.
"This wouldn’t have been possible without Moorhouse’s Brewery, who were the perfect brand to collaborate with. The North West based brewer is well-known for its mythical beers which include Pendle Witches Brew and Pride of Pendle – very fitting considering
"The Blackpool Tower Dungeon’s popular Pendle Witches show and focus on telling the stories of Lancashire’s dark history! Just like the show, there is a limited-run of 100 bottles of Grim Reaper which will be given away to those brave souls who are unlucky enough to secure a ticket!"
The interactive show is based on Sir Edward Kelley, an English renaissance occultist and scryer. A servant of a deceased master will entice the audience to assist them with recreating one of Kelley’s death cheating experiments.
Those who dare will descend into the dark depths of The Blackpool Tower Dungeon by the medieval lift and make their way through the specially designed sets - each with special effects and scary storytelling from a professional cast. For those who can stomach it, the finale is a ride on the long drop, followed by a tipple in The Red Lion - a dodgy pub of 1896.
