Any production with the word 'ice' in it was bound to go down a storm during the recent heatwave.
Even 'Hot Ice' pulled in the crowds as we headed indoors to watch the skating spectacular at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Whether it's because tickets for the matinee performances are included free this summer with tickets to the theme park, or families were wanting to escape the heat is anyone's guess, but they all seemed pleased that they did.

Rapture has been brought to the Pleasure Beach Arena by Hot Ice and its troop of world class ice skaters.
With first class skating, wonderful costumes and impressive staging, it does an amazing job of entertaining the crowds during the 50-minute performance.
The show has been produced and directed for more than 20 years by Amanda Thompson OBE, who since 2005 has managed to successfully combine that job with her role as managing director of the theme park.
Renowned for bringing together the world's best skaters to create the finest performances, Oula Jaaskelainen, a former Olympic athlete and Hot Ice cast member, is the choreographer that pulls the visual extravaganza together, ensuring carefully crafted intricate footwork and speed skating go hand in hand with beautifully written music to create the perfect storm.
I went along with my two young nieces, aged five and eight. Both were happy to take a break from the glaring sunshine and the summer holiday madness of the theme park outside to see professional skaters work their magic in real life.
While the story unravelled before us on the huge rink, the two girls barely moved a muscle, not even a blink at times, in case they missed part of the show. The world champion ice skaters wow the crowds with jumps, spins and what seem like superhuman speeds, and they engage with the audiences throughout the fast moving show.
Super glamorous costumes including sequins and feathers, and the performers' natural elegance and graceful skating, all working in unison with the atmospheric lighting and special effects, to create a spellbinding and captivating show. The crowds are dazzled and engaged for the duration, while being left at the edge of their seats.
If you are visiting Blackpool Pleasure Beach and fancy watching the show for yourself, all you have to do is show your eTicket at the Arena Box Office ahead of the afternoon performance, which starts at 2.30pm, and you will receive a free standard or standing ticket. There is limited availability, so it is first come first served for those tickets.
The evening Rapture performances begin at 7pm and run for two hours with a 20-minute interval. To book tickets, starting from £10, visit the website here. Theme park tickets, from £32, can be booked online.
