The Ohio State football team is about a week into fall camp as the players and coaching staff prepare for what could be another championship season. Part of the preparation is evaluating what newcomers might be able to contribute somewhere on the field.
One of the first steps in making that transition is the losing of the black stripe and we have our first of the fall. Freshman safety Jaylen McClain has lost his black stripe as of Wednesday.
McClain was a three-star prospect out of the state of New Jersey but has plenty of potential. 247Sports recruiting analyst says that McClain has the ability to be a starter at the college level as well as NFL draft possibilities.

While the defensive backfield is currently loaded, McClain seems to be working hard to make a name for himself. He may not be able to grab much playing time on the defensive side of the ball this year, but special teams are always a possibility.
