Black Mirror season 7: cast and everything we know

Jesse Plemmons in USS Callister on Black Mirror.

Black Mirror season 7 is now filming and we should expect some more twisted technology tales as we explore the dark world of modern inventions such as AI, social media and more.

Creator Charlie Brooker has now teased some significant details while speaking at Netflix's Geeked Week event (quotes via Tudum). He promised a mixture of "genres and styles" in the new series.

"We've got six episodes this time, and two of them are basically feature-length. Some of them are deeply unpleasant, some are quite funny, and some are emotional."

"We have evolved to a place where it's kind of OG Black Mirror this season. So it's all sci-fi, techno-dystopia."

In Black Mirror season 6 we saw six new episodes set in various locations and times including Northern England in 1979 and an alternative in 1969 where two men undertook a perilous mission in space.

As with Black Mirror, it's impossible to predict exactly what is around the corner, as the possibilities are endless when it comes to the anthology series. However, we do now have Brooker's comments and a cast list, including ex Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi and Succession's Harriet Walter.

Here is everything we know...

Black Mirror season 7 release date

It has been confirmed that Black Mirror season 7 will arrive on Netflix in 2025, and so we will not be seeing it on our screens this year.

Still, it's less of a wait than the gap between seasons 5 and 6, so we don't have too long to wait for the six new episodes!

Black Mirror's episode code has varied across the seasons. The first two seasons were comprised of just three episodes, which season 5 also copied. Black Mirror season 7 is six episodes.

A Netflix teaser post revealed that one of the episodes will be a follow up to USS Callister, with a statement from Netflix adding:  "USS Callister will return… Robert Daly is dead, but for the crew of the USS Callister, their problems are just beginning."

Speaking about this episode, Brooker said: "Fans of the show will recognize the cast of a certain spaceship from one of our episodes reappearing. We've done a sequel for the first time in Black Mirror history. Normally, I kill off all the characters at the end of an episode, and I kept some of 'em alive. I'm growing as a human."

Episode titles and descriptions will be revealed further down the line!
