Charlie Brooker’s Netflix anthology series Black Mirror is finally returning to our screens for the first time in four years. Ever since it began in 2011, the series has left viewers on the edge of their seats with its terrifying portrayal of how technology might impact the future.
The genre of each episode varies but the majority are set in near-future dystopias with science fiction technology. Black Mirror, which started its life on Channel 4, has attracted a huge array of guest stars over the years - including Rory Kinnear, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Scott and Hayley Atwell.
Creator Charlie Brooker has previously said that he is determined to make the new season different to anything that has come before - admitting that he even tried to get an AI to write an episode. Speaking ahead of its release he said: “It should be a series that can't be easily defined, and can keep reinventing itself. Partly as a challenge, and partly to keep things fresh for both me and the viewer, I began this season by deliberately upending some of my own core assumptions about what to expect."
