The Black Friday sales are here and it's a great time to bag yourself a bargain on Nintendo consoles, accessories and merch.
Both Nintendo games and hardware tend to hold their prices so picking up them up cheap is a rarity. That's why when we do see sale prices, we recommend pouncing on them! And this Black Friday it's not just third party retailers that are cutting prices; Nintendo is joining the fray as well. So there's even more opportunities to nab a discounted console, merch, or range of accessories in the sales.
We've seen discounts on the standard Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch Lite, as well as the newer Nintendo Switch OLED. Depending on your budget and what you're looking for, you can make big savings on Nintendo hardware. And thanks to the bundle offers available, you can pick up a number of popular titles as well as a Nintendo Switch Online membership for free!
Nintendo Switch Lite vs Nintendo Switch vs Nintendo Switch OLED
The Nintendo Switch Lite model is perfect for younger gamers, or frequent commuters. With no detachable Joy-Cons, you don't have to worry about losing them and subsequent costly replacements! It's purely a handheld console, rather than a hybrid, so there's no docking it and playing games on your TV.
There's a range of colourways to choose from including turquoise, yellow, coral, and grey. There are also special edition colours available. It's definitely the most portable, budget-friendly option of the three consoles!
The standard Nintendo Switch sports a 6.2-inch LCD display but its performance is the same as the Nintendo Switch OLED. The latter has had a bit of a design refresh, with thinner bezels, and an improved kickstand. The main hardware upgrades are the enhanced speakers, internal storage (64GB compared to the Switch's 32GB), and the 7-inch OLED panel.
You'll be treated to more vibrant colours and darker blacks, and you won't need to rely in headphones as there's no tinny quality to the speakers, even when you crank it up to full volume. Joy-Cons are compatible with both models, so you're not married to the colours your console ships with.
Nintendo Switch Online explained
Nintendo Switch Online is an online service that's similar to Sony's PS Plus and Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass. Members get access to an expanding library of over 100 NES & Super NES games, cloud saves, exclusive member offers, and being able to play online with friends.
Black Friday Nintendo offers often throw in at least three months for free, so a bundle is a great way to try out the service before committing long-term.
