The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come to occupy the top post in the Raichur City Municipal Council where Wednesday’s election results were announced on Thursday. The results were announced by Assistant Commissioner and Election Officer Rajanikanth as per the directions of the High Court of Karnataka, Kalaburagi.
Of the 35 members of the council, 32 were present for the election proceedings. Of the 32 members, 19 voted for BJP candidate Lalitha Anjaneya Kadagol and the remaining 16 members voted for Mohammad Sajid Sameer of the Congress. The election was held by show of hands.
“Ms. Lalitha Kadagol, who secured the highest votes against Mr. Sajid Sameer, has been declared as the new president of the Raichur CMC,” Mr. Ranjanikath said.
Shivaraj Patil, MLA, K. Muniswamy, Commissioner of CMC, and others were present.
