Bizarre travel: Drunk tourists get trapped and end up staying in Eiffel Tower overnight!

In a bizarre incident, two men got stuck in the Eiffel Tower due to excessive alcohol consumption. To rescue them, a specialist firefighter unit was sent.

The usual opening time of 9 AM for the tower was delayed owing to this incident. Referring to this incident, Sete, the publicly-owned Eiffel Tower operator, stated that they did not however pose any threat.

He further added that both the men were questioned by police in Paris, and that a criminal complaint will be filed against them.

This incident comes after two bomb scares at the tower, which also took place recently, and forced the monument to be evacuated twice in the same day.

If reports are to go by, French police have also launched an investigation after the false bomb threats were made via posts on a gaming site.

This iconic landmark in Paris was built in the 1880s, and stands tall at a height of 300 m. Reportedly, it attracts more than 5 million visitors in a year. This also means such incidents will not be dealt with casually.

Revealing more about the incident, Parisian authorities added that they seem to have got stuck because of how drunk they were. They were later discovered by security guards in an area between the second and third levels, which usually remains closed to the public.

How did the drunk tourists get stuck there?

The drunk tourists paid their entrance fees at around 10:40 PM on Sunday evening and, according to the police, they climbed over barriers on their way down the stairs from the top platform of the attraction.

Although police questioned the tourists, prosecutors added that the charge of trespassing on a historical or cultural site was dismissed since no damage was found.

However, Sete added that they would go ahead and file a complaint against the pair, also stating that they pose no apparent threat.
