Bitten by rodents in MGM hospital, patient dies after shifting to NIMS

The 38-year-old patient K Srinivas who was bitten by rodents at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital and shifted to Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Punjagutta, has died on Friday night.

The patient was suffering from lung, and kidney diseases. He was in critical condition and was undergoing treatment in the Intensive care Unit (ICU) at MGM Hospital when the horrifying incident occurred. Srinivas was on mechanical ventilator support there.

After the family members lodged a complaint with the hospital authorities on Thursday that rodents have chewed some parts of the patient, the superintendent of MGM Hospital, B Srinivas Rao, was transferred, and the services of two doctors were terminated.

The State Health Minister T Harish Rao has issued directions to shift the patient to NIMS. Doctors there said on Friday evening that the patient continues to be in critical condition. The NIMS authorities have confirmed that Srinivas has died on Friday night.
